Bangkok, November 26, 2015 – SAIC Motor-CP Co., Ltd. and MG Sales (Thailand) Co., Ltd., the manufacturer and official distributor of world renowned British automobile “MG”, today signed the land contract with Hemaraj Land and Development Public Co., Ltd. to buy 437.5 rai of land in the Hemaraj Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate 2, Chonburi Province.

This contract signing implies the largest piece of land traded by Hemaraj this year. Situated on the land will be the new manufacturing plant of SAIC Motor-CP, which is beginning to build facilities and grow more production lines in 2016. Upon completion, the company’s maximum productivity is expected to be 200,000 cars per annum. It also aspires to be the MG car manufacturing centre of ASEAN, distributing MG cars to both Thai and regional markets.

“Thailand is considered a strong manufacturing base for automobiles, and MG is determined to grow and flourish in the automobile business as promised. It also looks forward to sustainably increasing its market share in Thailand by producing high-quality cars and continually delivering new models to the market,” said Mr. Wu Huan, President of SAIC-Motor CP Co., Ltd.

In 2013, SAIC Motor-CP signed the rental contract of the 17,280-square-metre ready-made factory, which is situated in the Hemaraj Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate. It is a manufacturing plant of the MG6 (E20), first launched in June 2014, and later of the MG3, launched in March 2015, followed by the launch of the NEW MG6 (E85) in July. Recently, the latest model, NEW MG5, was launched in November.

The NEW MG5 is the third generation of the MG cars produced and sold in Thailand. It is generously equipped with the sporty coupe design, the high-performance 129-hp turbo engine, the spacious, comfortable cabin, 9 integrated active safety systems, and the smart communication technology inkaNet – the full package that will take your life another step forward, being progressive.
